Software Engineering Program

Our Software Engineering Program is a comprehensive journey into the world of coding and development. Divided into four intensive parts, students will master Javascript, Python, and C++, working through several projects that develop essential skills. From basic programming concepts to advanced machine learning and AI, this program is designed to equip you with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the industry.

Part 1: Foundations of Programming

The Unix shell environment, software architecture, databases (SQL and CSV), algorithms, basic data analysis and statistics, loops, ifs, and functions.

Part 2: Memory Management & Networking

Coding Malloc (infamous memory allocation), shell, and a database, clients, servers, sockets, and protocols. Continuation in C programming, including LibASM.

Part 3: Data Analytics & Advanced Programming

Data analytics and statistics algorithms, data scraping and collection, data storage, data structures, data manipulation and cleaning, data visualization, communicating key insights, advanced software architecture, machine learning, data science, cybersecurity. Major project: building a video conferencing application like Skype or Slack.

Part 4: AI, Cloud & Open-Source Software

AI & all algorithm types, portfolio building, machine learning, cloud & data engineering, open-source software.

Information

Our projects include a focus on software architecture, object-oriented design, and advanced back-end programming.  Work in groups and complete individual portfolio projects. Work on projects from AirBnB, Dropbox, Linkedin, Docker, and more.
On average, students will write about 100,000 lines of code as they complete exercises, software projects, and coding challenges throughout the program. This high-quantity coding means students develop confidence in their code and applied software architecture design and implementation experience.

Live coding, features technical experts or community students solving coding problems in 1-2 hour demos. The goal is to demystify coding for learners by sharing coding approaches and best practices.

Coding collaboration sessions involve students working in small groups on timed challenges. They aim to improve teamwork, critical thinking, presentation skills, expose students to interview questions, and build a sense of community.
Students will showcase approximately 5 to 20 projects representing thousands of lines of code for employers and to prepare for interviews.
